Newbie here help with 04 FXHO

I went riding this weekend and when i first started my ski up i heard a low tone when riding the jetski, and for some reason it wouldn't accelerate full throttle , after riding for 5 minutes on idle i pulled over to an island and looked at the back of my ski and saw that the rubber piece on the right of the impeller had broken off (i guess from ware) so i put it back the best i could and i floored it and the ski rode fine. Now i wanted to know if the rubber panels need to be replaced and what is it's purpose? (If you guys know the name of the part it would be great too)..or if it wouldn't need to be replaced should I just take them both off...

No biggy. Don't really need them. Rubber curtains hang down to prevent crap from floating in, and help silence exhaust a little, at idle. No way that thick rubber should break off.

I would remove them entirely! If you ride in salt water, and being from Miami I'm pretty sure you do, you'll be able to to wash the salt out a helluvalot better w/o them in place!!!

The first thing I do on ALL my skies is removing those annoying rubber curtains. I never really got the point on using them, Julio...

Wise choise, Ski! Everyone removes them because they serve little purpose...and in addition to the aforementioned pros vs. cons in removing them, you may actually see a little performance gain on those sweltering hot south Fl. days, as they are bad for trapping heat in your exhaust!!!! Drape those two mud flaps over your nose on a 95 deg day and tell us how it feels - lol. Your FX will thank you!
