How do you remove the supercharger shaft from the housing

I don't have a press, and can't put enough pressure to remove the shaft. I have everything off that should be off per the service manual. Can I put the acorn nut back on and tap with a large hammer? Any Advice?

A press works best, the s/c is a precision item and hammers are not friendly.

You need to push it from the S/C impeller side and it will fall out.

Dont re-use the seals / bearings.

Thanks Antiguan, I ended up using a gear puller with the edges around the outside of the housing and screwed it in pushing the impeller side of the shaft, popped out without much pressure.

BTW, I lived in St Kitts for 3 years in the 70's, so howdy neighbor!

Read the SBT instrutions..they show you how to use a hammer on your Scer..LMAO...NEVER use a hammer when working on your Scer..always use a press,as Antiguan FZR had stated, your SCer is a precision item and hammers are not friendly.

Snowman, have nearly $200 invested for tools for this, and now I need a press! The plan to do the 4 SCers in my and my friend's machines is just barely breaking even. Should have gone to Jerry! Now off to get the press so that I can finally install the shaft and finish up.

    Good thing I am retired.
