Skat folk...... Cone or not to cone???

Put in my Skatty 13/21 tonight and was sent the wrong cone (DAMMIT). Didnt end up putting one in at all. Plus after reading horror stories of guys having to melt them off with white phosphorus, I decided to just go coneless and installed the pump for riding this weekend. Am I doing much harm if any?

Lots of people don't use them. Never tested it myself but I've heard you gain speed without it.

No prob dude. I'd still ask them to send the right cone though. Those little f'ers are expensive! Last time I sent Impros a few props I asked him to throw in couple a cones to have as spares. I was expecting around $15 'cause that's what I pay for Solas cones. I almost shit myself when I looked at the invoice & realized I paid nearly $50ea for them.

You're talking about the little tapered ring that slides over the shaft on the leading side of the prop, right?

It should turn the Scat 13/21 right up to the limiter. I have the Scat 13/22 and in cold water (less than 60*), I touch the limiter sometimes.

Wow, so I may be closer to the limiter than I think..

I don't have one on mine right now but still need to do some tuning.

And my lake is shut down due to high water! Fock!
