    Sorry newbie, charging question.

    Ok so let me apologize off the bat and say I'm a newbie to this forum and maintenance on ski's in general. I do a lot of work on jeeps but these are new beasts. I have an 08 seadoo wake. I did try searching but couldn't find exactly what i needed. Ok so the issue! I replaced my battery after it died on the water the first time I went out this year. It was 3 years old so it was time. Everything was working great until last night it started to notnstart as crisply, then it didn't start at all. I brought it home and put it on the tender and this morning it started right up. I checked the voltage with a mulit-meter and it read 12+- (engine off) and with the engine idling it was 14.2+-. What gives??? I don't want to take it to the dealer tomorrow and have them tell me it needs $2mil in parts. Any help is appreciated, thank you very much.

    Welcome to the forum.

    What ski do you have?
    Have you put the battery in and rode the ski? Or from the sound of it you put the battery in and have not rode it yet?

    I have an 08 seadoo wake. I have rode the ski. I replaced the battery and took it out on the water for several hours. Everything was fine until starting because hard. Then it it wouldn't start. And thanks for replying.

    Could it be the rectfier(sp?) Sounds like the battery isn't keeping charge in the ski correct?

    That's exactly it. But I tested the charging system and the voltage is coming back correct. Could it still be the rectifier?

    Check the grounds at the engine..
