    Welcome to the Hulk

Your post has been moved to a new thread to avoid confusion with different machine and owner in old thread.

What exactly is the problem with your Virage? Two or three cylinder? Carburetor or fuel injection?

What diagnostics and maintenance has been done?

2000 Virage 700 will not rev over 4k-4200 rpm after running for 1-2 minutes

2000 model Virage 700cc red domestic engine (single carb.) Ski has been sitting for 2-3 years. I had to drain fuel tank, replace spark plugs, clean fuel filter, and replace battery to get it started last week.

I ran the ski on the trailer for about 30 seconds after the minor tune-up, it started easy and ran great. When I put the ski in the water, it went about 200 yards with no problems and then went into a limp mode it seems.

I was unable to rev over 4000-4200 rpm's and could not travel much over 5 mph. I took the fuel cap loose and heard a slight psi release but nothing changed with engine performance. I do not know the previous history.....this ski is new to me. Actually jet-ski's are very new for me mechanically.

Im a late model car mechanic and clue-less what to do. All help and suggestions will be very greatfully appreciated.....my wife and I are really wanting to take the ski to the Tennessee river on the 17th for our first anniversary and I cant find anybody that will diagnose it for me.

Did you replace the gray Tempo fuel lines?

    Rebuild the carburetor(s)?

Remove and inspect the jet pump and drive line?

Have a look at my 'what to do first' pages, via my signature links.

4000 RPM should be moving much faster than 5 mph, so I suspect you have several problems going on at the same time. Slipping rubber coupler or striped drive splines are two possibilities.

Any warning messages on MFI display?

Desperate for HELP....my post was deleted????

Im looking for some friendly advice with my 2000 Polaris Virage 700cc and I am new to this forum.

I posted in performance section with details about my problems and it is gone today. Can anybody offer some help or let me know if im not allowed to post yet?

My wife and I would like to use the jet-ski next weekend for our anniversary and it will only rev to 4000 rpms. Please help if anyone is familiar with a 2000 Polaris Virage 700cc Red Domestic single carb engine.......Thanks

I need to know how to check compression on a jet-ski.....this one sat through 2 winters without being winterized. (I think Im screwed....)

thank you for the reply........it has a full oil reservoir but i did not drain it and put new oil (it is probably about 2-3 years old and im not sure what the condition of it is. no warning lights or display messages and I dont know how to get trouble codes. I am pretty new to skis.........im an auto mechanic.

i just got through removing the prop/shaft assembly.....everything underneath seems to look ok

i scanned through it the first day I got on the site. one thing i am curious about is the battery voltage, i put a new battery in and im getting a reading of 13.6-13.9 on my display. I read this in the post that you sent me the link for "Also check battery charge voltage (14.5)" I wonder if this would cause a low rev condition?? is there a chance that contaminated or old oil can cause driveability (sorry bout the auto term) problems??
