05 rxp.... tested mods great results
I just got back from a weekend on the water and very pleased with my speeds. My question is at about 73mph and a little under 7000rpm the ski starts becoming unhooked and porpasing out of the water almost like bucking. Would shimming my jims plate correct this?
The mods are as follows:
gen 2 fizzle IC
rotax racing #42s
4inch rear air
diy catch can
opas block offs
jims plate with skeggs
solas concord prop
top speed was on gps a 76.1 mph with 1 bar of fuel but the ski ran 75s all weekend without a hickup. It starts to unhook so i can keep it in the water and have to let off.
Any advice where i could start would be great. I assume just the plate needs to be played with and shimmed. Special thanks to h2jim and Ironman for helping me out with this ski. Id like to ride 80 this year or close to it if possible

Alot of us have seen REs or Riva pro block offs to help with porposing at 75 mph + on RXP.
Seems to be the mph that it is good idea to add some extentions.
Really IMO it is best to have the opas padles or the extentions.
I have seen with just the covers the ski can have handling issues at more then 75 mph on RXP.
Other then that play with trim body position to quite hopping.
Not sure how much shimming will help on moded closed loop plate.

Maybe you need to pump some more iron and you will be able to hang on to it better. LOL.
Sorry Buddy I just had to say that.

What Skoepp said ... almost every RXP will do that at the speeds you are getting. Best solution is RE or Riva full size OPAS blockoffs. The cheap little ones work up to 70 mph, but once you get anywhere near 75 mph or more, you need to get GOOD blockoffs to stop the porpoising.

I have heard this alot and wont disagree but chads 05 rxp does not porpoise up to 82 with the cheapo rivas at any trim setting.

Would welding a 1" lip to the back of the rideplate help? Whenever I do speed runs, I have my trim all the way down, and I still bounce running 79-81 mph.
