Thread: B2 800 swap

  1. #1

    B2 800 swap

picked up a B 2 thats minus motor
Ive got most of an 800PV and am thinking of doing that.
my biggest concern is exhaust as I dont want to spend a fortune on custom.
    Anyone done the 800 swap?

There are, and everyone of them had to do glass work. You have to cut enough out of the side and re-glass for the exhaust to fit.

so would an 1100 be a better choice?
Or is there a cheaper solution to the exhaust when using an 800?

Not really if you want it stock. Don't know anyone who makes a different pipe for the pv 800 other then twin pipes and that is more of a problem. 1100 and even 1200 non pv are much narrower motors with the exhaust.

the 1100 I have in mind is a Yammy not a Kaw.
can get the complete motor for just a little more than
what a replacement 760 would cost me.
So it will cost a little more to get the 1100 (I already have most of the 800 stuff)

    what is the better choice?

Easier = 1100. Only real glass work that needs to be done on the 1100 is the front mounting plates. The 800 needs room for the enormous exhaust that goes around to the other side of the engine unlike the 1100 (or 1200) which just loops up and over on the same side of the engine.

Ironically I am currently working on fabing up some plates for the 1100 front mounts to sit on. Once ready they are getting test fitted with a loaner crank case and glassed in.

well I have an 1100 raider hull that would be real easy to make a plate and template from
With the glues that are now available I would think you wouldnt even need to glass them in.

It may be more work but still think the 800 is a better choice. It can always be expanded to 900+ with some 1300 jugs.
What is the advantage of the 1100 Kaw vs the Yammy?

Im talkin about the yami motor. I don't care about them kawi 1100's very much. And the yami 1100 has proven to be more reliable then the 800....gotta love them power valves on the 800. And if you just plan on "Gluing" in mounts and thats it, don't bother doing the work. It has to be in there perfect and have alot of material to sit on. Not trying to sound like a dick but if your gonna do something, do it right.

do a search on pwctoday and x-h20 as there are a few 1100 swaps into a B2. Most did not do any glass work just made a plate to use stock mounts.

I do have an after market 66E (GP800) waterdawg single pipe. Was going to do this project but decide to just stick with my 5mm stroker. I thought it would be great to do, i was also going to switch out the 66E cyclinders and use a pair of TJ ported 1300 ones. Long block is on my shelf just riding now that it is summer
