    Seadoo Hand granades?

Hi everybody. I am a new to the forum. I am looking at buying a 05 GTX LTD but most people I have spoken to here, except the local Seadoo dealer, tells me to stay away from the Seadoos as the engines are hand granades waiting to go. The ski has done 65 hours. Should I rather buy a Yamaha?

Well obviously you have been talking to people from other sections that are just biased to one particular manufacturer, which is just stupid. All manufacturers have had there fair share of problems.
The 4tec itself is a very good motor, but there were some inherent flaws with the s/c for pre 08 skis.. Is this a supercharged ski that you are looking at?

Yes it is a 2005 Seadoo GTX Supercharged Limited Edition with 65 hrs on it.

well what you need to do is make sure that the washers have not blown out at all. what you can do to check is pop off the air intake and try to spin the S/C. if it spins, it needs rebuilt. If not it has the ceramic washers in it and need to be changed out before you take it on the water. Also make sure that the washers have never been sent through the motor.

Isn't the gtx ltd the 215hp model?? In which case I would get the washers replace or replace the blower. those years also had valve problem if ridden in salt water and not flushed correctly.
