    160 hp FX HO buck/overstuff ???? Help

Hey fellow riders. I have over 400 hours riding experience on 160hp FX HOs. I have never had this happen before. Today I was riding and the ski lifted as if I had hit a 8 inch diamater log broadside. It then turned/spun 90 degress to the left. (Handle bars turned to the right to correct this with out success) Water was flying everywhere!! I darn near got thrown off!! Pulled muscles hanging on to the jet. Is this over stuffing the pump?

I was running about 57mph (gps) at 80%-90% throttle. I did not let off the throttle. I circled around and did not find anything that I could have hit. My jet has all of the Riva RPM kit except the sponsons, intake grate, and ride plate. I did use the R&D ppk set up for the stock intake grate. I was low on fuel (about 5 miles before the low fuel beeper went off). The water was practically smooth. I weigh 168 lbs. I was able to make this happen again by doing the same riding as the first time, second time not as severe. The ski rapidly raised about a foot and slowed down FAST! The second time it did not turn radically.

If this is over stuffing: I have never heard of it happening at this slow of a speed.

Has anyone experienced this??? If so please respond!!

    Thanks Roy

Roy be careful buddy. This is the exact reason I got rid of my 2008 FX-HO. Someone told me it was due to NOT having a Riva intake grate on it so I fitted one in an it got worse. I think the problem could be on your ride plate, it could be lifting the back end just enough for the intake grate to scoop too much water??? I got thrown off three times one of which I had to have hull repairs done to the ski. I wish I had more info buddy and hope you find some help here. BE SAFE, Julio...

I'm not sure about R&D,but Riva advises not to use the PPK with the stock intake grate for this reason.Take the PPK out or install an after market intake grate when used with the PPK.

Does anyone knows what is a proper or ideal pressure to have in your pump tunnel? Thanks, Julio...

pump plug kit. Those dense rubber pieces that fit in between the transom and grate.
