Removing fuel knob on XLT 800
The nut which secures the fuel knob to the hull cracked. To replace it I need to take off the fuel knob. The screw on top of the fuel knob won't come out. I have tried WD40... Is there a set screw or left thread? I do not want to break the fuel selector device it screws into or a $3 fix becomes $50. Any advice? Thanks

Ran into same problem.Soaked screw for a couple of days in PB Blaster.Finally got it out with a lot of pressure and needle nose pliers.Just as hard to get knob off!

Wow, so glad I found this. I have the same issue. I ordered the following part numbers;
90202-229U1-00 WASHER, PLATE | YMUS
F0D-6777C-00-00 LEVER, COCK
98980-04008-00 SCREW, BIND
I know the 90170-22187-00 NUT is all I need, but just incase anything else breaks or needs to be replaced, I'm there anyway.
Any tips for how to remove it? Do I disconnect anything from the inside? Stupid question, whats PB Blaster - Is it the same as WD40? Any tips on how install it back? Anything to look out for?
Found this diagram below, #10 is what I broke..however I ordered a few more pieces anyway...

PB Blaster similar to Kroll Oil.Really any penetratrating lubricant will do.Try Advance Auto.Secret is holding knob w/ pliers and pushing down hard with phillips screwdriver.Tried to get around expensive nut myself, but NO way.
