    1999 stlx 1050 stator upgrade

    HI, I NEED HELP!!!!!
    I am replacing the stator and cdi on my stlx 1050. is it easier to remove the gas tank (if so, can tank come out of the front of the hull) or do i need to remove the motor? thanks in advance for any input. i appreciate it!!

    The SLTX tank will not come out through the hood. You might be able to unbolt it and slide it forward to give you a few more inches to get to the flywheel. The biggest challenge is getting enough room to get a flywheel puller on it.

    I made a hybrid pulled out of a regular flywheel puller and a shorter bolt from another puller i had...it gave me about 2.5" more to get in there. Still pretty difficult...especially if you have never done it before and don't know what you're supposed to be removing. I could do a stator with my eyes closed now!

    thank you so much for the info. i rebuilt my 2000 1200 genesis pwc a few years back. was lots of fun aand learned allot, especially from folks on greeen hulk!! i have all the parts and tools i need to replace the stator. thanks again for the info!!

    I didn't think the 99 model year needed the upgrade???

    Yes they do, except for the 1999 '1200' engines.
