Question slt 750 dies at WOT

Been trying to finish up my 95 slt 750. Added a fuel restrictor which I thought would solve the problem. It runs fine till it warms up then it wants to bog down and die at WOT. Smells pretty gassy too. Think the carbs just need some tweeking? Maybe too much fuel is going through?

    I'm thinking seizure????

How about popping the heads off and getting a good look at the cyls and piston wash? You'll get a better idea of what is going on.

well i'd love to but all the bolts are too corroded. already broke some head off a few. You really think it's a motor problem?

How many is a few, and are all the broken ones on the same head? Have the broken ones been replaced?

It concerns me when you say until it warms up, then bogs down and wants to die at WOT.

Sounds to me like the pistons are expanding inside the cyls (bogging down) and when you run WOT they get the hottest (swell the most) and seize

If it's not a mechanical seizure, and it IS fuel related, it will be no time before you have piston failure.

All the more reason to remove the heads and see what's going on.

Have the pistons been replaced recently?

The other option that it may be, could be the elec. stator is failing when it gets hot.

As Crazy mentioned, how many broken nuts and bolts are we talking here?

most of the bolts on the water rail above the jugs broke off. I stopped trying from there. It died as soon as i got it on the water and gave it wot, but i'm pretty sure it was warmed up by that point. I'm pretty sure it was overheating, motor was too hot to touch. MFD isn't hooked up to tell me though.

    Chris,
If "most" of the bolts on the waterail are broken, it's dying consistantly at WOT, and the motor is too hot to even touch, you"re going to have to start tearing it down at least to get a look. I'd say at this point, the motor is probably hurt.

Is it possible since the mfd, fuel sending unit, and most wires from the ecu aren't hooked up...could it just be running in limp mode?
