    Genesis Doesnt go

I have an 03 genesis i 1200. The problem I am having Is she doesn't go over 20 mph. The only way I know to describe it is it's like spinning tires on the water lol. The motor is fine its just not Putting the power to the water. I was thinking maybe the coupler from the motor to the shaft. Is there some type of clutch somewhere it def seems like something is slipping somewhere. Any suggestions would be awesome.

    Welcome to the Hulk

No clutch, but there is a rubber bonded coupler behind the engine.

Pull the jet pump so you can check the driveline splines and the coupler. Instructions can be found through my signature links.

Also check the impeller blade clearance and impeller bearings while you have the jet pump out.

I have pulled everything out and replaced the bearings. Everything seemed to be in working order. Any other ideas?

Drive splines on both ends of driveshaft AND inside the impeller AND inside the drive coupler - all are good?

If engine is revving and yet thrust is low, either the drive line is slipping somewhere, or there is an air leak into the jet pump (ventilation), or the impeller blades are badly worn or damaged (cavitation).

You may need to remove the drive coupler to fully inspect it. Use the 'rope trick' to get it off the engine, and have a look at the failed rubber bonded coupler link.

What maximum RPM are you seeing on the water?

Pull the drive line cover. Install a piece of rope not the plastic type for cheap ski ropes in your # 3 (pto) cylinder. Before you do this roll engine counter clockwise until it just covers exhaust port, so you don't damage a ring. Install rope, then continue to roll engine over counter clockwise until it locks up.

Take a pair of vise grips and install them tightly on the drive shaft just behind the PTO boot (cone) make sure you stay close to the boot so you don't damage the bearing surface for the snout bearing.

Wiggle the shaft back and forth if it moves or slips you need to replace pto coupler and drive shaft.
