    GP1300r Exhaust leak?

I appear to have an exhaust leak because under the seat is filling with smoke. The smoke causes a runability issue at idle and very low rpm. If I take the seat off the runability issue goes away so it leads me to believe the smoke build up under the seat is causing my problem. The issue is I can not tell where the exhaust leak is coming from. Where is the common place for it to leak? There is only 6 hours on the ski since the rebuild. Has the Riva "Free flow exhaust kit" on it along with a D-plate.

usually water will come out with the exhaust leak

back the trailer in the water and run it, and look for a water/exhaust leak

probably one of the clamps for the freeflow

I haven't seen any water leaking so does that mean its not likely an exhaust leak? Is there anything else that could cause the exhaust build up under the seat?

I have an 05 1300 and just went through something similar.... Mine was the black rubber boot holding the rear exh. And the waterbox together, it was completely loose... The smoke didn't let my ski breathe right causing it to have sporadic times of power loss.
    Good luxk

I'll have to check that out. The guy I bought it from had just had a new engine put together and installed before I purchased it and I have already found numerous things that were left loose so that was likely left loose as well.

It appears the smoke is coming out of the rear main seal. This is a new engine so I'm unsure what caused it. I'm guessing that if the rear shaft etc., isn't aligned properly it will take the seal out? I'm hoping this seal can be changed with the engine in it?

It's coming from the back of the crank, right where the driveshaft goes to the engine. I guess the correct term on a jet ski would be a "rear crank seal." I am very mechanically inclined as far as cars but my waverunner terminology is a little lacking.

Well that would be my luck. That is where it appears to be coming from though. It starts smoking as soon as I fire it up and doesn't take long to fill the engine compartment with the seat on. Is there anything else in that area that it could be that is making it appear to be the seal?
