Thread: code 1544

    code 1544

Riding it this evening and had it pinned for about 10 seconds. Threw the above code. (1544) by the time i got back to my dock it had taken on a lot of water, smelled a little funny and was louder than normal as well.

PS. I'm new to skis, but am pretty mechanical. Thanks for any help.

1544 is exhaust temp hot. Check for a blown exhaust hose.

+1. Also pull the insulation off the waterbox and make sure the waterbox has not blown a hole in the bottom. But no matter what you find, it quite likely was caused by not enough water in the exhaust too ... what ski do you have, what mods are on it?

I agree with both of the above. I had the hose from the Waterbox to the resonator come off once and I had the same symptoms you describe.

Make sure the sensor is plugged in all the way. Sometimes it backs out. Just push in and see if the code repeats itself.

It's a 2006 RXP, only mod is an intake, although i don't recall what brand, it was on the ski when i got it.

...is there a diagram anywhere of the internals of this ski? i've never worked on one before and don't really know what's what, more used to cars lol

And thanks for all the replies

You can look at the parts on the store here under OEM Parts Finder, or you can buy a manual from your local dealer. There might be a Green Hulker nearby who may give you a hand too ... where are you located?

Intake is a RIVA cold air i guess. it reroutes the intake to the front.

I'm in wilsonville OR, i think i might have fixed the problem, but i'm not 100% sure. looked like a hose had popped off on the the front RIGHT (not left like i had it before i edited) side of the engine which was connected to a brass or copper thing lol no clue what everything is called or is, but it looked like it could be a water jacket for the exhaust. The fitting for it was angled down at about 45 degrees.

thats the water line that comes from the IC to the exhaust mani. ski filled up because it was dumping water into the hull instead of the exhaust. Hints the reason you got HI TEMP ALARM. make sure you tighten the clamp very good when putting the hose back on...
