    Impeller Stuck

I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED BUT I HAVE BEEN GETTING ALL EXCITED TO DO "THINGS" TO MY SKIS BUT I HAVE BEEN WORRIED THAT I DIDN'T WINTERIZE WELL ENOUGH SO LAST WEEKEND I WENT OUT IN THE SNOW AND WENT TO TOWN. I HEATED THE HULL WITH AN ELECTRIC FAN AND THEN I WENT TO FIRE UP #1 AND IT CLICKED?? AGAIN AND A CLICK?? I TRIED TO TURN THE DRIVE SHAFT AT THE ENGINE COUPLER AND HAD TO FINALLY TAKE A WRENCH TO TURN IT OVER COME TO FIND OUT MY IMPELLER WAS DIGGING IN THE WEAR RING. MY QUESTION IS... DOES THE IMPELLER SHAFT COUPLER HAVE TO BE UN SCREWED FROM THE ENGINE CRANK TO PULL THE IMPELLER OUT? AND IT SEEMED LIKE I HAD THE COUPLER ATTACHED TO THE SHAFT ON MY OTHER SKI #2. HOW DO I REMOVE THE COUPLER FROM THE SHAFT? ALSO DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE OUT TO GET THE IMPELLER OFF OF THE STATOR HOUSING? I HAVE NEVER DONE WORK ON THIS END OF THE SKI BEFORE AND WAS LOOKING FOR ANY POINTERS.

Remove the four nuts from the pump side that attaches it to the hull.#26 Then pull out the whole pump and drive shaft assemble. You also have to remove the water and siphion tubes from inside the hull, Stearing and reverse or trim if installed. You can use a 2" X 4" to help break the pump loose from the hull.

It's not too hard to take out the entire thing.

does the impeller shaft have to be un coupled or will it pull right out? it looks like it is a splined shaft at the engine side.

It is splined on both ends the engine coupler and the Impeller. It will just pull out.
