    4" Fizzle Air Intake Question

    Hi guys,

I recently ordered this along with a riva catch can for my P-X. After reading the instructions in the How To section I noticed point 5 states - Disconnect the engine breather hose and route to aftermarket catch can or re-route into supplied air intake hose after installation (the latter recommended for salt water riders).
I am confused, firstly how to route it into the air intake hose, secondly does this mean I don't need a catch can, btw I ride in salt water.

    Thanks,

I just cut a little hole into my kanaflex at about the same position that the breather hose goes into the stock air intake, and pushed the breather hose with the fitting on the end into the kanaflex.
Yes this means you do not need the catch can.

So if i ride in salt water it's better NOT to use a catch can? - Why though?

Well this seems to be most peoples opinion and the way i chose to do it.
Its because the salt water can cause your s/c impeller and the throttle body to corrode. With the crankcase breather routed to the intake, the idea is that the oil vapour will help with corrosion resistance.

If you do proper maintenance for salt water riding you should have no issues with running the catch can that you purchased. At the end of the day it really comes down to preference. Running the hose back into the intake is how the stock setup was. Most people do run the catch can when they go to the aftermarket intake.

Not true. This is a myth/theory I see all the time on this forum.
The supercharger does not need to be lubed to prevent corrosion. You do not want any crank case vapors going into the supercharger because from there they go to your intercooler and it will get coated with oil over time. When it's covered in oil it's not functioning at peak efficiency.

If you are running an aftermarket air intake you NEED to also be running a catch can... salt water or not!!!
