    New 09 STX variable idle

Ok my new ski just got thru the 5 hour break in period. Going straight or turning left rpm goes from 1100 to 2000 turn right and the rpm drops back to 1100. 2000 rpm is a lil stout for idle and docking. And really should the rpm be adjusting when I turn the handle bars.

Check the throttle cable. It is too tight. Pull your seat and watch the piece on the throttle body. When you turn the bars left it will move and when you turn right it will go back to where it is supposed to be. They did somewhing incorrect at the dealership when they assembled it. It shouldn't be anything dangerous unless they have it rubbing on something or pinched. I would not let that ruin my weekend but definately do an inspection yourself. You could probably correct it but let your dealership know so his tech won't continue the mistake.

Its called kawasaki off throttle steering assist, Its normal. It does mean that your throttle cable is to tight so the engine thinks its under load. loosen the nut on the throttle cable and it will be fine

Wow I was pretty much correct about something? Mine did that after some work was done to the ski and that was my solution.

its not off the throttle steering assist unless you are above i think around 3000rpm and turning lock to lock with no throttle at all if you are turning the bars at idle and rpms change lasportmn is correct.

This is EXACTLY what mine is doing, thought it was the KSS so disconnected it, still didn't fix the issue . So....which nut are we talking about to loosen the throttle cable ? Is there a nut next to the lever on the steering, or are you talking about another nut in the engine bay ?

Re: New 09 STX variable idle

Yeah where the throttle cable bolts to the throttle housing on top.
