    Shim plastic GPR trim tabs

So I am trying to improve rough water handling/hook up and understand that using washers is not ideal on the plastic tabs.
I have the possibility to make a full size one piece shim at work. Would this be worth trying or should I skip this attempt?
Would aluminum be an acceptable metal to use?

I picked up an aluminum set off a gp800 on eBay for $25 shipped.

Will keep an eye out on eBay.
Saw the flexing issue topic while researching and never saw root cause. Is it because of using washers and only being "4 pointed" around those holes? Figured cut to fit piece would may e eliminate problems.
Btw I used titanium for the shim, should that be ok?

Ha I know it probably seems overkill but it was lying around at work so we used it
    Cost me nothing

I'll add one more thing to my growing list to look out for
