Woody which one is it hitting #1 cylinder and the bail on #2 or is it worse? I understand the 1300 exhaust is larger but I have not compared them yet. post a picture if you can. I had to trim the cap on the #1 and the bail on #2 I got creative with it, some guys grind the pipe boss on #2 I wanted to avoid this.

I was talking to Spud the other day about the difference in the 1300 and 1200 single pipes and if the Big Bore 1200's would benefit from a pipe upgrade. Makes total sense but there are things to consider which you have pointed out here. This is the first I have seen posted on this subject so you are either a pioneer or the first to have openly talked about it. Keep us informed Woody Great topic for discussion!

When Yam dropped the power valve cylinders in 05, they re designed the exhaust manifold, and it is 'shorter' than the 00-04 manifolds.
It was done to help overcome the lack of 'punch' with the newr non powervalved cylinders.
(It does give more h.p than the older manifold though!)
Hope this helps.

Mongoose is that more power accross the powerband, or more from 1500 - 5500 rpm's.
It would be interesting to see a graphical representation.

Woody, I think they all hit. I had to clearance the manifold on my '02 1200 when I installed gas valves. Minor grinding that can be done in 5 minutes. You will also need to clearance the expansion chamber for the #1 retention spring.
