Tip of the day: flywheel bolts on 03-05 models

Many are not aware that 03-05 4-Tec's came with regular bolts on the flywheel and many have backed out or even sheered off, especially when using an aftermarket ECU with a higher rev limit. 06 and up models come with upgraded stretch bolts and Sea Doo now offers a replacement stretch bolt kit part number 420641016.

Now, don't go into a panick and pull your engines just to change these bolts. If you ever have it apart for anything please upgrade to the newer stretch bolt kit.

Im sure you will be fine. Just if you ever have your PTO off for anything change out the bolts.

I have only heard of the bolts backing out or sheering 3 times (mitch, stickem, jose) Im sure there are others as Sea Doo makes a bolt update kit, but those are the ones i have heard about.

    you mean like these bolts
I fix at least one rxt gtx a week plus fx-140 and 12-15f we live on the gulf. people ain't got a clue!! when it comes to the surf.

The valve and rust is what killed this motor. see pic of old and new head. this is what I am doing today putting this one together and back in boat then tommarow I got a fx-140 motor with a bent rod to do.

I will give another tip i learned back in 02. If you dont put the chain guide and chain on the crank sprocket before dropping the crank back in the motor you will be pulling the crank back out, major hiccup.
