why you should never let anything sit if you ride in salt water!!
So, last year I broke down in the inlet down the shore and had to get towed in. the bolts backed out of the cup and mag, so that was fun. I pulled the plugs, lube the shit outta the cylinders and blew compressed air threw all the water lines, and parked it for winter. figured I'd ride my RXP for the rest of the season and fix it later. I thought I was gonna hone the cylinders and swap them on to another short block I have sitting here. shame on me, that's not gonna happen now. I still can't believe this thing rusted up this bad. the motor was locked up soild. took a friend and me an hour to get the cylinders off. guess I should've fix it right away. Now I'm kicking myself!!

That to bad. Some where I saw a guy that fill the whole motor with oil plugging up the exhaust and intake. So that wouldn't happen to him. I guess if there any salt in there it going to rust.

I'm sure the pipe still had some salt water in there. I normally will put it in the river when i get home from the shore. this way it cleans all the salt water out of the pipe and everything. I also use to fog this thing after every ride. I'm not sure filling the motor with oil would stop this. I think the lesson is not to let anything sit if it's been in salt water.

Damn thats ashame...salt water is tough on everything..especiall metal..makes me think if. Should be fogging mine after every use..I let it run for a few on the hose but still don't feel 100% confident that it's cleaned out..

IMO, you should fog after every salt water ride!!! this is a must to me, doesn't matter 4 stroke or 2 stroke, it can't hurt it.

Hmmm...just spray some in there or do yo have s perticular method you would like to share?
I'm kinda new to two strokes...

Well before I even put it the water, I spray the whole engine, pump, steering, and vts. When I'm done I let it cool down. Then wash everything down real good recoat everything again. Next step is run it on the hose, rev it up and blow the salt water out and then fog the motor until it bogs down or stall or both. Last I pull the plugs a spray the cylinders down real good. Put the cover on and put it way.

So while it's running on the hose, spray the fog spray into the air box till it stalls out?
Then pull plugs and spray inside?
I never thought to spray motor and stuff down b4 riding but seems like a good idea as well since it could be a week since I sprayed it down last...thanks !
