Just a Question about the 93 SL650 - Mikuni DF52-92 upgrade triple outlet fuel pump

I was wondering about the fuel pump upgrade. I realize the old pump was garbage mainly because it was a single outlet. What if there was some sort of 3way splitter installed with an individual hose run to each carb so the last one isn't getting shorted fuel? Any reason this wouldn't work?

How about the fuel pump is 18 years old and the plastic diaphragm may be stretched and weak?

That's reason alone to replace it. Might as well buy the triple outlet.

Hell, it's only $35 for a new one.

A top end kit costs $250.

Which do you think is cheaper?

Best way to damage the engine and have problems is to shortchange the maintenance.

Yeah the age is important in that factor but I was just asking out of curiosity..

Where is this 35 dollar fuel pump I keep hearing about? John Zigler said he has one for 45 but that's the cheapest I have found.

John's $45 pump is most likely the kit. Includes hoses and install instructions.

He should have just the pump for around $35.

I found the 25 dollar one on powersportsuperstore.com.. Should be here in a couple days.

What else needs to be removed in the fuel system? I read something about a flow restrictor that needs to be removed?

Which fuel pump model did you buy?

Fuel restrictor in the return fuel line is not something that gets removed. On some Fuji engines it is required to be present. As I recall it was not stock on your 1993 engine, but could be added if needed.

Have you looked through the what to do first links in my signature?

I think that is the correct model.

You will also need something to cap off the now-unused nipples on two of the carbs.
