Flapper valve on the pickup maybe? Search "flapper valve" I think there might be a sticky about it in the how to FAQ section.

    RR,

You have not given near enough information. There are to many possibilities to narrow it down. Start by doing a compression test, and tell us about the color of your spark plugs.

..... about the flapper valve, you remove it. Do a search on this, but give us the other info as well.

his description to me today in our brief converstaion almost sounds like the PV's shutting down on him on top, then there is nothing on the bottom end.

    Yeah......

    Stuck open.

RR, you may have to do some riding with the seat off to see if the valves are opening and closing as designed. When was the last time you serviced (cleaned) your power valves?

I told him the same thing for a few days. Gave him o bills number he wanted a set of carbs. Like I said do what I told you to tell the guy working on it. Then fill us in! Or change mechanics. You have plenty of good folk up your way! Lee
