    Which one to get?

I'm looking at either getting a gp1200r or an early model gp1300r (03 or 04), Just wondering what is everyones opinions on those, and which one is better and why?

1300, slightly bigger displacement, fuel injected. Everything else is the same so might as well go newer and more efficient. Also you never have to rebuild carbs!!

or an 05+ NPV 1300, less worry no valves if you want simplicity, and the newer HO pump... +1

I've owned both. I had a 99gp1200 and my current 03 gp1300R. The 1300 is bigger and handles the chop better, is easier to maintain and start with EFI. It also is faster in top speed and has a ton of hop up items. I agree with WFO, a 2004 does not have the pump shoe issues as the 2003, but it still has the power valves which I like. I think 2004 is the year of choice for the 1300 series, the only drawback is you need to add the 05 and newer pump to get the most out of it. The GP 1200 has tremendous hole shot, wave jumps like a champion and was very fun to throw around. It also has more storage space than the 1300. I sometimes miss how fun it was to explode out of the hole and fly though the air. It was a very fun machine. What type of riding are you going to do? The 1200 gets tiring when trying to cross a 30 mile lake in anything over 6" of chop. In my book they are both fun machines, but I give the advantage to the 1300 for my type of riding. I still miss my 1200 sometimes however.

Go with the 03/04. Or like Pale side 05 would be the way to go. Thats what I have.
