    Replace Stator on 2004 Virage I ???

My ski starts and runs great for 10-15 minutes....then after cruising accross the lake and letting off of the gas the engine stalls. It will then not start again until cooling off for several hours. Then the same situation occurs.

I've talked to a couple service places...and they each have mentioned replacing the stator.

I have a manual...and I see that in order to get to the stator, you need to take off the flywheel, which requires a special tool. Any ideas where to get this flywheel puller?

Also, I need a new or have mine rebuilt stator....any help on that?

    Thanks!

    Fuel injected two cylinder engine?

It could be the stator, but my first suspicion would be the TPS or EMM.

The only test for the TPS is to replace it with a known good TPS. Costs about $100, and I recommend having a spare TPS on hand anyways. A bad TPS can cause all sorts of strange problems.

Confirm that the water cooling through the EMM is actually flowing. The same water also flows through the stator cover, and the small brass elbows sometimes get clogged.

Also make sure the water exit hose from the EMM is not kinked and actually flows out the rear at the exhaust fitting.

You can use a simple LED tool to read the service codes from the EMM. Details via my signature links. Clear the codes after reading, then water test the engine. Read the codes again to see if any new ones have occurred.

Another possibility is the LR-503 Start/Stop module. Unplug it and bypass as a test.
