01 virage MFD and Rev limiter??

New to PWC and need help with a polaris virage. Ran great last season after carb rebuild but battery died over winter. Tried to charge and jump but while trying to start with out enough juice in battery the display started flickering. Battery was too far gone to start so replaced battery and now display does not function AT ALL but ski starts and idles great but acts like rev limiter is active when trying to rev! Direction selctor is in forwards and is full of oil and fuel. Does the MFD have any bearing on the rev limiter if there is such a device on this ski? Is there any other explanation of what happened? Pleas Help its hot as hell out right now! lmbo!

    Welcome

Now you know why we recommend against boosting the battery in a Polaris PWC. They don't like it, and sometimes things go wrong...

    Is this a carburetor engine?

You can bypass the MFI display for a test. Details via my signature links, in the MFD section. With the display unplugged see if the problem goes away.

There is also a fuse for the display inside the electrical box. Only replace with another 1/4 Amp fuse.

There is a rev limiter when Reverse is engaged, or the engine is hot.

Thanks K447, yes it is carburated. I will unplug display today and see what happens. This might sound crazy but where is the electrical box located on this ski? I tried tracing the wires around to see if there was a fuse panel or inline fuses and had no luck! Maybe didnt look to hard as I was frustrated! Thanks again and ill let ya know the outcome!

Follow the thick spark plug wires back to the electrical box.

On a carburetor engine the spark plugs stick straight up from the top of the engine.

Found electrical box based on another post and yes the 1/4 amp fuse was blown! Spare was still on board, replaced and presto! Ski runs perfect and dash works great! Thanks for all your help my friend! Will be on water tomorrow!!!!

    Thank you,

    Quadrock!!
