94 sl 750 extended ride plate need an extended pump to match?

Hello i have a bone stock 94 sl 750 and looking to reduce the porpoising. I ride in small lakes and the ocean which is rarly flat calm and seems to porpoise and cavitate easily. I have been doing alot of research and i have narrowed it down to either the ocean pro R or O plate. Do i need an extended pump to run either ocean pro ride plates? With the OP ocean plate is the ski still able to do 180's and play around? I notice you loose roughly 1mph which doesnt bother me, but i still want to play around similar to how it does now so would the racing plate be better for me? Thanks alot.

I ran the ocean pro O plate with a short pump on my SL 650. It helped a lot. Also made high speed steering better. I just had to go a little faster to make it spin out.

You may want to re-seal the pump shoe. They weren't sealed too well from the factory and can cause cavitation.

You need to remove the pump and re-align it after you reassemble the shoe.

Use only GOOD marine silicone. Something like 3M 4200 fast cure or 5200

You might be able to save some $$ and just find an extended plate on stock model. 96 SLX had them and are pretty easy to find parts on. Maybe check ebay for some. Just a thought. I have had great experience putting those stock extended plates on even with the short pumps as well.

I put an slx plate on my SL 650 and I thought it was almost worse than the stock one. It would porpoise on smooth water. I have that style on my SL 900 right now with the stock sponsons and it seems prretty good though.

An extended plate, OEM style sponsons, and a "scoop type" intake grate work well for reducing porpoising. Not eliminating it, but reducing it to a tolerable amount

A little more work than just bolt ons, but you can always put a trim from another model on it. I put the trim off a 93 750 on my 92 650. That probably makes the biggest difference because you can adjust for water condtions, wieght, etc

Im pretty sure the 94 SL 750 had trim, but yes trim makes a big difference, and will gain you some top speed as well
