Can an EMM only work every once and a while?

I have a 2002 VirageI that has been an ongoing project since last Fall. When it stalled out on the lake.
I have installed a brand new battery and have 12 volts while cranking. The display wakes up and I had 140 rpm while cranking. I only have like 8 volts DC on the injector wire with the injectors plugged in. Unplugged TPS and tried pressing bilge while cranking. I also cleaned all power and ground connections with sandpaper.
I do not have spark or fuel ALMOST all the time.
I checked resistances and AC voltages on the 12 pin connector going into the EMM and they are all within specs.
After doing this I noticed that the spark plugs were wet, I checked spark and I finally had spark. Put a few drops of fuel in the intake and it started
    Then the depression set in...
I killed the engine and and it would not restart. Checked spark, I had now had no spark again, or fuel pressure.
Can an EMM only work every once and a while? I don't know why I have spark and fuel and then I don't?

I suppose a bad EMM could intermittently work.

Most likely fix is to have the EMM checked and repaired.

Second option (less likely, but possible) is the flywheel magnets have come loose. You would need to pull the flywheel to inspect it.

If the stator had loose magnets would I have correct voltages and resistances like I do have?

Correct AC stator voltages while cranking, even with bad magnets?

I think it is possible. We have had other members who tested the stator and it seemed OK, but when they finally pulled the flywheel off there was damage.

Incorrect or bad stator readings mean the stator has a problem. Good readings do not necessarily mean the stator and flywheel are good.

Success !! DFI comes through for me.

I sent the EMM to DFI technologies and they repaired some capacitors. I popped it in the ski and it fired right up Thanks for the suggestions K447 and everyone else.

How much did it cost to fix?
