    04 rxp riva stage 2 kit high temp light limp mode

    Just got a 04 rxp with 100 hours. Riva stage 2 kit. Runs great on trailer with hose hooked to it when I first bought it. Took for first test ride and H temp light flashes and goes to limp mode. J pipe and intercooler seemed cool I rode it w no seat on to make sure there were no leaks or anything. Exhaust manifold was warm but not rediculous. Engine head felt hot to touch at head where coolant hose attaches. Seems to be closed cooling loop causing problems. Anyone know about the thermostats if it could be stuck or water pump problems? Ran it when I got home on the hose again and seemed the same conditions as above. Ride plate was also hot. Oil is clean no water in it. No antifreeze in hull either. Appeared some antifreeze came out of overflow tank during all of this. Any help would be great. Thanks

    Sounds like there is something in your intake water system that is clogged. The code you are throwing is more than likely a hi exhaust temp code which causes it to go into limp mode. Do you notice water coming out of the exhaust when you are running it on the trailer and on the hose?

    It has a rear exit exhaust and the water pours out of it when running on the hose.

    The thermo might be getting stuck. What code does it throw when it goes into limp mode?

    Hi temp code. Can you pull the thermostat out and run it without it to test it? Could the water pump be smoked?

    Not sure what gen the intercooler is but it says vortec if I remember right. Found the cap to the coolant tank may have been loose not allowing it to build pressure and open the thermostat. I am going to try it out tomorrow. Blew air through all hoses and intercooler and pump no blockage so we will see. Runs good on hose for 5 minutes then ride plate starts to get warm which makes sense since there is nothing to cool it when its not in the lake. I will repost tomorrow. Thanks

    antifreeze coming out of your overflow usually can indicate a blown head gasket. Did you fill it back up???

    There was only a few drops I didnt have to add any. I believe that it came out because the cap was not on tight to seal and build pressure in the overflow tank. I just ran the ski on the hose for a good 10 minutes with no issue. I will see what happens when I put it in the water tomorrow.

    10 min on the hose is too long u are risking damage to carbon seal
