Smile Sad day for my Pro 785, maybe a build in the future!

SO I told myself the other night I was going to go to the lake by myself early in the morning to get some nice glass and go over to the buoy course. The one time I go out there by myself with out my other two buddies it breaks down.

I got it to the water started it, let it warm up properly.(I have to go through a whole no wake lake to get to the big main lake) I drove it for a good hour after warm up time. Didn't think I was harder on it than any other time I ride it.

Then all the sudden it kind of spit and spuddered for a second then died. I was like WTF??!?! I have had my pro for two years now and this is the only time it has given me any problems.

Then I tried starting it up again and and I knew the battery was good because it is a new battery and I keep it on a battery tender all the time while also disconnecting it from the posts when not in use. It turned over more or took more time before it started again. Ran real boggy for 20-30 seconds then died again. Then for a while it was not even turning over. I thought it was something with the starter at first or in the stator/bendix. Something in the front of the motor. I heard like a rattle and it didnt sound good.

SO I came home and then for shits and giggles I put a compression test on it. The one furthest to the back of the machine was at nothing 30 or so but very low. AWESOME!!! I through the compression tester!! then went to the other two up front. One fourty five. Looks like it isnt the starter.

So it looks like I am going to be doing a build!! So any info would be great. I know I want stock Polaris Pistons, renicasil plated cylinders.

If im going to rebuild it, whats rebuilding it without making it faster.
Here is the list of mods I have now to the motor.
    K&N filters
Redtop carbs- Size??? not sure 44's 46's
    V force reeds
    Hot seat head(92 octane domes)
Stock triples (Watcon Water reroute with jetworks valve)
    Yellow CDI box cut

Thats about it. Im thinking just saying the hell with it and run alot of compression and get some domes and run 100++ octane in it. Also would like to side draft the carbs. Not to sure just want to make it run again and be badder than the first time.

Sorry about the grammer and if I left anything out. Needless to say I am very pissed and angry. Info, comments, suggestions would be great!

    Bummer. Sorry to hear that.

First pull the head and see what you're working with.

Pray that the crank is still in good shape, and fog it right away if you're going to be storing it for a bit

Hopefully the cyls are still good. Renikasil is almost $200 each cyl.

Doubt you're going to find new OEM Pro 785 pistons.

Contact Jay at Sharp's Marine about your pistons, cyls, and any mods you may want to do.

I plan on pulling it off tomorrow, ill let you know the details and send pics.
I hope the crank is still in good shape. I ran the snot out of it so far this summer, so it should be ok.
Say i have to get one cylinder renikasil, should I do that to all of them if im putting in new pistons? I mean I know i cant put one piston brand in with another one.

And from searching this forum sounds like everyone says the oem polaris pistons are the way to go. But what are other good choices that guys run. I heard wiseco are junk for 785??? true?

the OEM 785 pistons are no longer avalible so go with all OEM 750 stuff pistons ring, wrist pins and wrist pin bearings and clips . if you only need to redo one cylinder then just redo the one and hone the other 2 or just redo them all if you need more then one .

44 redtops would be very nice with vforce reeds and a hotseat head
Stay away from Wiseco's and if you need any work done you know to Contact Vern for all your Polaris needs he can get you anything you may need

^^^^^^^PTO, Mag, overview with the head off, Head, PTO cylinder wall, PTO piston, then the other 2 cylinders.

I have no idea what the hell happened to that back pitson, looks like something just got in there and chewed the shit out of the piston and cylinder walls!!! SOOO MAD! right before the 4th of july and the Polaris Meet!! Whats everyone think

replace the one piston and get the cylinder wall renicasiled? or just do the whole thing( new pistons, replated cylinders)! I believe the other two pistons and cylinder walls looked pretty good. I also think the color on the two other heads and top of pistons looks pretty good as far as tunning on the carbs?

I have red tops, v force reeds and a hotseat head now. Can I make my machine have a side draft intake with my red tops now? I think I can. just have to change my intake between the cylinder jug to the carbs?? I have heard to stay away from wisecos. And I will be visiting that nice guy I just met by the name of Vern probably soon.

And is my head done with that chewed up dome on the PTO??? And are those domes interchangeable? Would like to upp the PSi?

    thanks for the info
