running problems on a 99 slth

i was riding my jet ski today and when i was going through the no wake zone it started to bog down from 1400 to 700 and lower so i held the throttle a bit and when i was riding it i stopped and killed it for a bit to chill out in the water and when i went to start it at first it wouldn't start then it would idle fine and then when you went to rev it would go to about 2500 and bog down. i know its fuel because if i turn the choke on it will go fine. then when i got back in i pulled the plugs out and there vary wet on top(fuel) any ideas? i think its running rich

What maintenance and service has been done?

    Have the carbs been rebuilt?
    Original fuel lines replaced?

    Ignition update kit?

    Check compression.

If adding some choke helps then it is running lean, not rich. Choke reduces air and increases fuel, making it richer than without choke.

Were the carburetors rebuilt with genuine Keihin rebuild kits?

What are the carb adjustment screws set to?

the carbs are set to 1-3/4 and yes they were rebuilt right. i think its getting to much fuel because there is alot of fuel on the cylinders and also its fouling out the plugs, could t have to do with gas tank venting?

Has this engine ever run properly for you?

    Correct spark plugs installed?

Does it rev up properly out of the water?

In the water but still strapped to the trailer, does it idle properly and respond to the throttle?

Check your fuel tank venting if it takes a while after riding for it to act up.

When the problem happens, stop the engine and open the gas cap. Listen for an air pressure release.

Re-tighten the gas cap and see if it runs better for a while. If it does, then your vent check valves may be stuck closed.
