    1997 sltx stator

instead of getting an updated stator for a 97 sltx can you use one from a 99 and then change the ignition controller?

If you are going through the trouble to change the stator, just get the upgrade and try selling off your old CDI to get back some of the money from the update kit. They are only a little over 300 bucks. Do the update now and most likely never have to worry about it again.
