Rev limit for 97 gtx 787

I bought my ski with a rebuilt motor with a warranty 3 years ago and am curious what the factory rev limit was. It currently hits about 6600 on the water and has seen 61 mph.

Rev limit is 7,200 RPM +-50. You should see about 6,840 RPMS with that ski. 53 MPH is max measured with a radar gun, not the dreamometer that comes with the ski.

Thanks, I figured the shop that rebuilt it kept it low to make it last longer.

I've tested my speedo against a GPS at 35 and 50 mph and it was within 1 mph at both speeds so I'm 99% sure I hit 60 +/- 1 mphish.

I know how speedos on the water aren't accurate.

If it is stock, there is no way, especially with such low WOT RPMS. Mine is bone stock and I barely make 50 with 6,840 RPMS.

I don't know if it's stock or not. Don't have motor specs nor did I ever check the intake grate or impeller.

The rave valves are almost brand new, got new ones like 7 hours ago.

I pull pretty hard on my buddy's 98 Yamaha GP800.

That partially explains it but my above statements stand. If my speedo is almost dead on at 50, what are the odds of it suddenly becoming very optimistic a few mph higher?

I have seen personally on my sportster 130, that the dreamometer will jump 8 mph over a true 2 mph gps. It would go 47 but show almost 60 at times. At 27 mph, best crusing speed, it would indicate 29 on the speedo.
That being said, my gsx 800 will hit 54 at 6900 rpms with the stock impellor. It gets to 40 fast, then takes a little time to get it the rest of the way. Like 20 seconds or so before it will not go anyfaster.
