Just got a 98' GSX limited, any thoughts

So I just bought a 98' GSX limited with 78 hours, as a 2nd boat. took it out today and only managed 58mph on slightly choppy water. Does this sound about right?

One thing I noticed is it has grey fuel lines, i read this isnt good?

Secondly, i'm having a difficult time finding a place that sells performance parts for these, any recommendations? as where is a good place to start to improve accel and top end?

58 sound right. USCGA Fuel lines will costs $60-$70. I put a intake grate on mine and it stay hook up in the water better. As for top speed just have fun with what you got. It cost more then the ski is wroth unless you can pick up used parts.

maybe an impeller upgrade and flame arrestors will do.also change the fuel lines and check the carbs for leaks

I Have The Same Ski And Mine Toped Out At 63mph on gps and i currently have the motor out and just installed new proX pistons, shaved the head, intake grate and am looking for a good set of performance reeds if anyones got some.

after my rebuild is complete im guessing ill be going around 66mph with more lower and mid range power. This Is The 4th Ski I Have Owned And By Far My Most Favorite!

I can recommend these.. I picked up a set of the SS. You could go with the high tension.

At 5,000 feet my 99 gsx runs around 55 to 58 depending on the rider. At 1000 feet it runs 60 to 63 depending on the rider. They are pretty fast because at the lake last week end my wife race a rxt 215 and was keeping up with it. But it might of been luck too. Because of his weight. If the motor that is older 58 to 60 sounds right.
