    amsoil?

just curious... im sure oil has been discussed many times in here but i cant find any post on it... i currently have 105 hours on my 09 fzr. and still on factory clutch too! i been running the yamaha 10w40 oil since i bought it brand new and i change it frequently... just wondering if it would be bad for me to run amsoil 10w40 synthetic in it? i run the amsoil in my 08suzuki gsxr1000 and it works great... also is there any filter alternatives compared to the 22 dollar stock yamaha filter?

Its personal prefrence really......I run Motorcycle oil because it does not contain friction modifiers....and has more zinc in it which helps with gear to gear contact in transmissions....but would also help with our clutches.....being sprag type

Oils with friction modifiers is NO GOOD for our ski, it will actually cause the sprag clutch to slip and jump out the cage under extreme conditions

Motorcycle oil does not contain friction modifiers due to "wet clutches" and transmissions in motorcycles.....any brand oil that says"energy conserving" will have friction modifiers in it, and you shouldent use it.

A rule of thumb....the owners manual will state the grade of oil....usually SJ or better and have a scale for the weight depending on your climate
