    quick question......flywheel 97 hurricane

    Hi fellas
    Is there a quick/easy method of locking the flywheel up on my 97 hurricane twin so that i can get the nut off?....also ..Do you definitely need a puller to remove the flywheel?

    See my signature links for the 'rope trick' to hold the crank shaft while removing the flywheel.

    And yes, you definitely need a flywheel puller. And not a cheap one either. These flywheels often need a huge amount of force to break them free.

    Hi thanks for the reply ...i've managed...using a re-drilled BMC-Mini flywheel puller.

    Now i've got the stator removed and checked using the info/method you posted on this site..i've found that the exciter coil 1 (black to purple) has an ohm reading of 2200 rather than 1200 ohms suggested.

    Could this be giving me the "going off one cylinder after a few minutes problem" i'm looking to solve?.
