Thread: Anchor for FZS?

    Anchor for FZS?

I have been looking for some type of PWC anchor that I can use when I want to stop at a "beach" on the lake that I ride on. Naturally, I don't want to pull the ski up on the clay/rocks with which the bottom of this lake is composed of, so does anyone know of a good PWC compatible anchor that will keep my ski secured with waves up to a foot or so?

    Thanks!

Nothing small enough to fit in the ski will hold up to waves, but I have found that the sand bag anchors work the best. If you are on a lake you will be fine. Sand bags seem to work for waves under 1 ft.

I purchased a anchor in a bag from SBT as a secondary anchor and it wont stay in the sand. Its completely worthless.

Sand anchors are ok but you usually need 2 people. One to fill the bag and one to stay on the ski. I use a small grapple style anchor that works well. The one I have comes in a padded bag so it doesn't band around in the ski when riding. They sell them at overtons.com.

Here in Florida I often anchor on the beach in the Gulf of Mexico and have had the grapple style break loose and the ski drift into obstructions. If I know I'm going to anchor in anything other than smooth water I have a small Guardian anchor that disassembles and reassembles easily and fits in a padded bag. It is also made from anodized aluminum so it is very light weight. The longest portion of the anchor is the "shank" at 19". If you can fit that anywhere safely in your ski then you will have the most secure anchoring option that you can buy. I use this anchor as my stern anchor on my 23' boat too. Also guaranteed for life.

I was just having this conversation this weekend. The box anchor is a really cool choice. Its a little spendy but it folds up really nice for storage. There was a thread on this a couple of months back. I'll see if I can find it.
