This is a 1050 motor, correct?

Does it have the original ignition system or the update kit ignition?

What has been done? Carbs rebuilt with genuine OEM carb rebuild kits?

yes is 1050 red engine, carbs not rebuild, ignition original.
on the average gas rides smoothly (about 4,800 rpm), give full gas - stops to go, twitches and speed of about 4000 rpm .
desync carbs can give such an effect ?

I suspect the problem lies with either the fuel system or the ignition.

If the original gray Tempo brand fuel lines are still in there then now is the time to refresh the entire fuel system. Replace all the old fuel lines, make sure the fuel tank is clean inside. Remove and rebuild the carbs with genuine OEM rebuild kits.

Review my signature links for addition maintenance items that apply to you engine (red domestic).

All the above should be done regardless of whether the current problem is caused by the fuel system. These engines really require the carburetors and fuel system to be in good condition.

Check cylinder compression with all spark plugs removed, throttle held wide open.

Read about the Ignition System Upgrade Kit for your engine.

Btw, make sure the correct spark plugs have been installed.
