Is it better than the last wear ring quality wise?

I have told that the new style wear rings are a little harder prior to be damaged from little rocks and plastic bags!

I placed both the pump and the new style wear ring in the freezer. I was able to install the new wear ring about 3/4 the way into the pump by hand....pressing it in. It doesn't just drop in like the older style ring. Using a large ball peen hammer....the flat side....I lightly tapped on the wear ring in a circular motion until it was seated.

This damn thing will need to be cut out to remove it.
