Ultra 150 reliability
I am wanting to buy a second ski and for some reason cannot shake the want for an Ultra 150. From what i have learned they are fast, but usually self destruct. I know with high performance comes other issues, but are these engine of poor design?

They're relatively high maintenance. Pumps need to be rebuilt fairly frequently. You sure don't want to run one lean. Add the triple pisser mod to make sure all three cylinders are getting water and add a coolant water strainer to keep trash out. Keep an eye on the oil lines (you MUST use the oil injection system).

I put exactly 199.00 hrs. on my 03 ultra 150 without one single problem, not even a pump rebuild, but I had to rebuild the motor on my 99 several times. One was bought brand new with 5 year warranty and one was purchased used, guess which one ???? Properly maintained they are great skis, but the last year they were made was 05, so the newest one you could get already going on 7 years old, and I don't think I would buy a used one unless it was absolutely pristine condition. They can turn into money pits real fast...
