Is the Riva Grate a P.O.S?

So I finally get my Riva ECU installed and working. I go out Sat. 8550-8600 rpm later I broke the Riva grate. Go home weld it up, next day same thing. Go home weld it up and also put extra material where the grate keep breaking, 8550 rpm later its cracked again. I have all ready bought a R&D grate (hopefully this won't break). Is the Riva grate breaking because the pump shoe is flexing? Is there anything else I can do? Does WORX make a grate for my ski?[ ATTACH=CONFIG]244466[/ATTACH]

Thanks, But his broke because the pump shoe inserts pulled out. I fixed that a long time ago, the pump shoe side of my grate stayed in. The grate it self just snapped.

How did you fix the pump support?

Yes lake weir my favorite place to go.

I repaired the pump shoe by drilling the brass inserts and the pump shoe all the way through. Then just put stainless bolts through the shoe with large washers and nynlon locking nuts. There are threads with pics on how to do this, just got to search.

The ride plate I welded a larger piece of alum. on and made it accept 2 bolts from the grate instead of one. More like the RXTX

Something is out of whack, possible lemon grate or shoe off.
When you tighten up the grate is it flush at mounting surface or does it have some flexing.
I've heard of riva's breaking more then others on all 4 stroke models but is low percentage IMO.

Try installing the Riva grate with just the front bolt and you will notice the rear of the grate will rarely fit flush with the ride plate mounting surface (it hangs down). This means the grate is already in a bind when the back bolts are installed. Add the pressure of water flowing over the bevel at the center of the grate when you let off the throttle at 68+ and "snap". I have had to mill the front mounting tab of the grate to make it fit better (see pic).
