2003 Genesis i - Check Engine problem, EMM code clearing...

I just got a 2003 Genesis with 61 hrs, I put a new battery ,ck plugs ,air filter etc,I cranked it up with air filter off ran great then check engine started flashing.I pulled codes 17 47 48 . Maybe shouldn't run with air filter off.I can read the codes but cannot clear codes I have a 1999 Genesis and have no problem clearing. I have tried with jumper and TPS off does the 2003 clear a different way.Should I try using the TPS from the 1999 that is the only way it worked on it not with the jumper.
    Thanks

PS when I but the new battery Hrs shot up to 533 and then droped to 0 after i ran it.

My guess is that when you pulled the air filter off and ran it, the engine got too much air and started to lean out.

I followed k447 instruction page on how to read and delete codes the reading part is working great but the deleting part just sends it back to reading flashes it worked fine on my 1999 Genesis but not on my 2003. Thanks for the pwc manuals web site I have 5 Polaris watercraft.

I am not too keen on the proceedure for clearing Polaris codes ... however, have you tried resetting the ECU and leaving the battery disconnected for a few minutes?

I doubt that is what happened.

While you have the cover off be sure to trim back the plastic web that cuts into the rubber air temp sensor cap.

You certainly can use the older TPS to do the EMM code clearing.

Note that 'hard' codes cannot be cleared. Hard codes are problems that are still happening right now.

As far as I know all the Ficht EMM use the same code clearing sequence. It can be tricky to get the timing right as you step through it. Sometimes I have had to try several times before it would 'take'.

Are you removing the lanyard at the end of the process?

What you might try is rigging up a simple toggle switch between the TPS harness connector center pin and red/power pin. Should provide an easier and more consistent signal back to the EMM as you cycle through.

The 99 TPS worked like a charm - I don't know why the 2003 TPS did not work.

I cleared codes, put it back together. I had to prime it to start but now seems fine it has not run in over a year. I push the schrader valve on the fuel line there was a lot of air so I did that a few times and now seems fine.

K447 I finally found my old injector from the 1999 Genesis that came apart would you still like pictures.

    Thanks again

Something doesn't seem right. Check fuel pressure.

The fuel system should have purged any air from the fuel lines in short order without you bleeding air from the schrader valve.

Will it now start by itself after sitting for a while?

Have you run it in the water yet?

Check fuel pressure. Should be stable at over 20 PSI at schrader valve tee.
