    2006 RXP whirring sound

Neighbor bought a nice '06 RXP. Took a look at it, starts and runs nice, good compression, water test 8100 RPM @ 68.5 GPS. No faults recorded in ECU. Engine has what I would call a slight whirring sound that my 4-TEC's don't have. (have 04 RXP and 05 RXT) The sound is not loud, and you really cant hear it with the seat on, but it is there. The ski has 140 hours on it, totally original, nothing done to it at all, so I told the neighbor that he needs to have the supercharger rebuilt immediately to get the ceramic washers out, and I thought it might be the SC bearings making the whirring sound.

So I got the kit and rebuilt the SC for him, but the whirring sound is still there. No change.

Anyone have a guess what the noise might be?

Thanks, nose cone is OK, but PTO bearing could be the culprit. I will check it out, I'll get out the amateur stethoscope (hose) out and snake it down by the bearing. It sounds like a noisy roller bearing, but there are aren't any other roller bearings on a 4-TEC....

I thought it might be the pump bearing, but I have a noisy one on my RXP and it is a different sound, can even feel it while riding.

Did you figure out what this noise was? Just curious because it sounds like my same problem.

Not sure I know it's an old thread but I've been searching for the answer to my problem and hoped the OP would see the thread and reply. Mine sounds like a driveline issue.
