My Honda R12X ran 11.5 wide open I knew anything over 12 is NO NO at full power....I had been asking why people are in the 12's under full power, I know lean is faster but richer keeps you richer when it comes down to a rebuild, My pockets quiver just thinking about a clutch or a lean deto rebuild!

    +1.....
my pocket is lean know from running lean on the AFR.
the reflash is back at R&D to richen it up so it will be @ 12.0 or lower with oem injectors, a c5 wheel and the watercooled s.c. housing.

I think the watercooled housing will help keep you afr more managable by allowing cooler air to enter and lower temps

What happened when your motor went Gordon? What did your plugs look like, loss of power, etc? Just curious.

Hope you get it back together and faster.

it was running ok, then .......
it ran like it was missing...........
the #2 plugged looked like it was dipped in oil.

riva has the block and noticed damaged on the block where the thrust bearing goes. which would explain why there was play in the crankshaft......
it is getting the riva internals upgrade.....
the piston rings sorta melted and the AFR was reading 12.5 when it happened.

Gordon high long did you run the ski at wot with the atf at 12.50 before it melted the piston. Glen at [email protected] told me that atf ratio between 11.5 to 12.5 was ok. My ski now is at 12.5 at wot with no power shot. Were you running the ski at wot for several miles at this ratio. PLEASE ADVISE. Oldman

I was told that 12.5 is too lean for a forced induction engine like ours, needs to be 12.0 or less....11.3-11.8 i figured would be ideal.....12.5 is not ok....as there is no margin for error....

I was going to do a reflash....but I ant letting my ski run 12.5 not even on stock boost....so If R&D says its ok to run 12.5....then I'll wait.....Im too scared to let my engine's fate rest with someone 3k miles away, I know 12.5 is bad....even on my stock boat
