    Angry 2000 GP1200R question....

Hey all, new to site...picked this up about 3 weeks ago and since then have installed a D plate, exhaust chip, and oil block off plate. Actually did that on 7/9/11. Took it to the lake on 7/8/11 and noticed it would bog at "take off" and the exhaust would sound like it had back pressure.....get up to about 28/30mph and it would run like a champ. Any suggestions?

Also it kind of felt like it was slipping when riding on the water.....

Was thinking it might be the pump seal but not sure. Reason why I say that is because at about 30+mph it runs like a bat out of hell.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Search for "pump plug kit" & "seal shoe".

don't think that's the problem....it's not slipping like a clutch when on plane. it only bogs on takeoff then opens up.

not sure about the powervalves and carb....just picked it up about 3 weeks ago. If they were bad wouldn't it run like poo all the time. When it gets up on plane and around 28/30mph it runs great. Someone was saying it could be fouled plugs and bad gas. I guess they were telling me that you have to put Sta-bil in the tank.....any inputs?

When I picked it up it did have gas in the tank and it was sitting for a year. Didn't dawn to me to drain it out. I guess there is something about the new gas with ethanol.....any inputs.

I would put my money on a fouled plug too. Cheap and easy to replace. It also wouldn't hurt to drain the gas and fill it up with high octane or non oxygenated fuel like Shell V-Power. I personally have never had much luck with sta-bil.

I noticed you did oil block off.
What oil and at what ratio are you adding?
Pull the clamp off the tank at the filler hose and suck out all the old gas.
Run a tank of new gas with your oil (I suggest Amsoil Interceptor at 40:1 (16oz per 5 gal gas))

Replace the fuel filter and swap spark plugs after 1/2 hour and see how it reacts. (tighten, unscrew one half turn and re tighten the plugs)

Well thats the big question....I did 40:1 and the oil I put it might be a cause also....it smelt worse than ammonia, but can't remember the name. I was thinking about changing to Amsoil....I think I will start with the plugs and new gas.

What also gets me is that when I "test" rode it, it didn't have this problem. And that was the day I topped off the gas tank. Roughly 2 weeks agol.

I'm also surprised your list does not include a carb rebuild. (and re-clamp the oil lines)
This is a 12 year old ski and needs a cleaning.
    - if this was not done send a PM to OsideBill
