    98 GP1200 hard cold start

recently purchased a 98 gp1200 with 86 hours. at the test run it started and ran fine. got her home and she wouldnt start the next day, with or without use of choke. i called yamaha and they suggested spraying a little bit of fogging oil into cylinders and then try and start. it starts. ive had it on the water 3 times and every time ive had to spray the fogging oil to get it started every time. once started she runs fine all day. what gives? do i maybe need to switch from choke to a primer kit? im relatively new to the pwc scene so im semi-lost. any advice is good advice. thanks

You can easily install this yourself...if you own Metric tools. It's super easy and just follow the instuctions and enjoy hassle free starting every single time! Your starter will love you after this =0)

That is the most reatared thing I've heard all year. In 14 years of wrenching on skis, over 100 skis I've put them on...never once has that happened. Do yourself a favor and listen to the advise given and stop calling a clueless person.

x3!! These things are notorious for not wanting to start easy with the stock choke setup. Even with a fresh engine and rebuilt carbs. You can get a triple primer kit about anywhere. Go for it. You'll be happy you did.

Even with only 86 hours do yourself a favor and rebuild your carbs while you're at it.
Use only genuine Mikuni kits for SBN-44 carbs. Download rebuild instructions from Mikuni site, even better, get your hands on a factory service manual.
Any questions, ask here. These guys know everything!
    Good Luck.
