Test results: Modified stock grate VS Riva grate

I modified my stock grate by thinning out the bars and polishing it up hoping to gain some speed. I was wrong!

First I ran my stock Riva grate and ran a best of 77.1 with a full tank of fuel.

I went straight to the landing and put the modified stock grate on and only ran 74.4. WTF I have no explanation for this. It just boggles my mind. I had no choice but to run back to the landing and put my Riva grate back on to see if my speeds came back and they did with a run of 77.2

Looks like the Riva grate will be staying on my ski.

by the way, air temps today were 95 degrees and water temps were 91 degrees. I can't wait to see what speeds colder weather/water brings

When we do our icebreaker run the water is around 40 degrees. That would probably give you a couple of miles per hour.

Im glad to hear that after some people on here say the Riva Grate reduces your top speed...

When your temps drop you should be right at the 80 mark Must be nice to say you have a 80+MPH ski.

Nope! It's an out the box Riva grate. It's just been trued to match the ride plate. The stock grate was trued to match as well.
