    GPS software users

Any of you guys/gals out there useTopos/Bluechart or other software w/ you GPS'? I'm curious about using it for the Doo's, but also in my Jeep for the trails and want to know what people are using. Whats useful/cool, and whats not.

    discuss...

i have ben using the gramin 76csx from day one with the topo sea map and it works great i have a lot of great lobster spots marked i never get lost the map contains gas station and restaurants on the water it displayes water depth and sandbars if u should ever decide to navigate unknown waters , U can not go wrong with it ohh i don't think there is a map that shows land and sea it's one or the other unles u buy and upload both into your gps

well, with the different cards I was hoping to be able to change the cards when I go offroad or offshore. I assume thats why they have different cards right? I hope so cause that was the assumption I've been acting on

u can buy the mini SD cards with the map permanently burned into it or u can buy the topo cd for your PC and download the map u need into your gps , i found that the mini SD cards contain more deatailed info compared to the maps from the topo cd

boy....after doing more research this sucks!!!! You buy over $100 software disk and can only "unlock" small regions of coverage!!! THEN it costs another $100 for every other region you want!!! What a racket!!

just bought City Nav and Bluechart on amazon for 210 shipped to my door by friday.....hopefully I won't have to use the other "regions" anytime soon. not that we venture that far with the Doo's but for use in the Jeep and boat could leave those coverage areas...

I guess thats why those nav systems are sooooo expensive.......software.....

another question to any of you guru's. the barometric altimeter sucks pretty bad on this thing...I guess it's not for finding specific altitude and more for general......VERY GENERAL... Is this normal? Should it be that sensitive? Cause if weather really effects it that much it's a useless feature...
