VTS repair......... look at my motor

I read the vts repair in the 2 stroke sticky and decided to try and fix my second 96 XP.

Well, I found the 7.5 amp fuse and it was blown.
I was excited that this was my issue and starting looking for a 7.5 amp fuse.
Couldn't find one so I decided to open the vts assembly and check out the motor.
And this is what I found.....

What is that white crap?? it was like soap....
Come to find out, there is a big hole in the boot.

Guess I will put my other motor in and trim it to 3/4 up and leave it

U can manually set the trim by Pulling the vts motor turning the screw and once u have it set put the old motor back in so it holds it in place .. Just dont hook up the power wires to it and replace the fuse

I cleaned the motor up, dried it out and it still works...
After using the vts for 30 seconds, the 7.5 amp fuse will blow???
Guess the motor is drawing to many amps and does needs replaced but I know the issue thanks to GH!!!

sea-one, can you send me a link to where I can buy an extra boot?

if its still blowing fuses you most likely need a new black box. are you getting a 12v low warning? at any rate you can do damage to your mpem if you keep trying to run it just leave the fuse out or buy a new/used unit.

    some good info here:
